The coin portrays a representation of a wedge-tailed eagle by John M. Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver of the US Mint (retired). The magnificent bird is standing on a branch with its vast wings outstretched. As well as the inscription AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the reverse also includes the coin’s weight, fineness and its 2023 year-date.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin bears the official 'Queen Elizabeth Memorial Obverse', featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign – ‘1952 – 2022’.
Authentication feature
For additional peace of mind, the coin incorporates an authentication feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter. Detectable under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited.

The Koala - Series
The Australian silver coin Koala was first issued in 2007 by the well-known Australian mint Perth Mint as a bullion coin with an annually changing motif.
Every year a new design appears featuring Australia's most lovable marsupial: the koala. This exceptionally beautiful series was produced for both investors and collectors.
The Koala silver coin is minted, among others as a 1-ounce version, from pure 99.9% silver in mint condition.
A remarkable feature of the 2007 to 2009 issues is the shimmering background, which, in addition to the Perth Mint's usual high minting art, is also a special feature of the Koala silver coin. This effect was specially developed by the Perth Mint. Since 2010, the 1 oz Koala has only been available without the shimmering background and for the 1 kg version even from 2009.
All! previous vintages are SOLD-OUT and have a collector's premium. All coins are delivered in the original transparent acrylic capsules of the Perth Mint. The first vintages were delivered in rectangular capsules.
The lowest Kookaburra mintage so far is the 2004 year with a mintage of 84,455 pieces and therefore has the highest collector's premium ( > 100 € ).

Kookaburra : The Laughing Hans
The Laughing Hans (lat.: Dacelo gigas) owes its name to its call, which is comparable to human laughter, and which it makes especially in the early morning and late in the evening. In Australia it is particularly popular because it eats mice and also dares to attack poisonous snakes, which it knows how to capture.
It kills its prey by holding it at one end with its beak and hitting it against a branch or stone. The same behaviour can be observed in the zoo, although Laughing Hans is not given live food there. It builds its nests in tree hollows.
The kookaburra is one of the largest animals in the kingfisher family and is native to eastern and south-eastern Australia.
