Mars is named in honour of the Roman god of war. It got such a name more likely because Mars has a reddish hue, which is the colour of blood. That is why the symbol associated with Mars represents the god of wars’ shield and spear. Furthermore, this sign is connected with the notion of “male”, and thus is associated with such things as self-assertion, aggression, sexuality, energy, strength, ambition and impulsiveness.
