The JOKER

Is an absolutely psychopathic criminal who defies any more precise classification of his modus operandi and motives, which always leads to his being underestimated. The only thing that always remains the same is his unrestrained penchant for comedy, which, however, ends fatally in most cases.
After being introduced as Batman's usual adversary in the 1940s, the Joker slowly established himself as the Dark Knight's total nemesis over the decades.
In the event Endgame, it is revealed that the Joker has apparently lived for centuries and is deeply rooted in Gotham's history through a legend in which a clown promised Gotham's industrialists to amuse their workers, but in the process drove them to their deaths.
There are no consistent versions on the origin of the Joker and his civil name. Some recent Batman stories, following the 1989 film adaptation in which the Joker was given the civil name Jack Napier, pick up Jack as his first name, but leave his last name open. In most stories, however, references to his real name are simply omitted.
The origin of the villain Joker with the characteristic appearance is usually attributed to an accident in which he fell into a container of chemicals, causing his skin to bleach, his hair and lips to turn green and red, respectively, and his features to deform into an eternal grin. The origin story was first depicted in Detective Comics issue 168 in 1951, some eleven years after the Joker's first appearance.
