Polar Bears in Berlin - Seventh fine silver series. Issue 2018 - 2nd year "Polar bear conservation in zoos". Every year on the World Polar Bear Day the new motif is presented
Polar bears in Berlin, this is a book with many chapters. The Berlin coin tells some of these stories in a 7-part series. Every year on the World Polar Bear Day on February 27, the new motif will be presented. The theme of the 2018 edition - 2nd year is "Polar bear keeping in zoos".
After 1845, one year after the opening of the zoo, the first polar bear came to Berlin. Polar bears living in zoos serve as ambassadors for their wild and endangered relatives. Polar bears are considered as an endangered species by climate change.
Modern zoos use biodiversity in various ways: a) supporting scientific research projects in the Arctic, b) providing active educational opportunities for visitors with the aim of becoming actively involved in the protection of animals and c) basic and behavioral research with zoos live animals.
