The most Powerful Dynasties of England
Starting when Henry Tudor (Henry VII of England) defeated Richard III in 1485, the Tudor dynasty lasted until Queen Elizabeth I’s rule ended in 1603. Because Henry VII’s oldest son Arthur passed away as a young man, his second-oldest son Henry VIII became king when Henry VII died. Henry VIII’s most famous residence, Hampton Court Palace, was regularly used for fun and celebration. The architecture of this well-known abode heavily featured heraldic symbols. Ten stone beasts representing the lineage of Henry VIII and his third wife, Jane Seymour, notably line the Moat Bridge. Consisting of real beasts and mythical creatures, these beasts represent one of England’s most powerful dynasties: The Tudors
