The Chinese giant panda is a symbol of luck and stands for harmony and patience. The coin made of 30 grams of silver was refined using an innovative colouring technique, which makes the details stand out even better.
The Chinese bullion coin with the name Panda has been issued since 1983. Due to the annually changing motifs, the panda coins are very popular with collectors.

Reverse: Chinese Temple of Heaven, year and the People's Republic of China in Chinese characters.
The Panda bullion coin of the People's Republic of China
is one of the most successful and oldest bullion coins in the world !
The Chinese Panda bullion silver coin has been issued by the People's Republic of China since 1983. Apart from a few exceptions (1983, 1984, 1985), the silver fineness of the panda is 999/1000.
The silver panda is minted by various Chinese mints, including the Shenzhen Guoba Mint, the Shanghai Mint and the Shenyang Mint. So-called "mintmarks", which indicate the mint of many other silver coins, do not exist on Panda silver coins.
The current official issuing authority is the China Gold Coin Incorporation. In contrast to the gold version, which can usually also be purchased at banks and savings banks, the silver coin (and also the platinum coin) must usually be bought through precious metal or coin dealers, which is, however, also cheaper in most cases than buying from the local bank.
The "obverse" of all China Panda silver coins is adorned with the Temple of Heaven in Beijing together with the coinage Zhonghuá Rénmín Gònghéguó (translated: People's Republic of China) and the year of issue at the bottom.
On the reverse are annually changing images (exception: 2001, 2002) of pandas. For certain vintages, there are minor variations in the coin design, for example in the size of the date or the temple, which allow conclusions to be drawn about the mint. An example of this is the 1996 Panda, where the font sizes vary slightly depending on the mint.
Since the 2015 vintage, both the silver panda and the gold panda have been issued without any indication of the fineness and weight, much to the displeasure of many collectors.
