The coin was struck by the New Zealand Mint from a 1/4 ounce of 99,99% pure gold and is officially licensed by Disney?. Pluto? is an orange colored comic dog which was created in 1930 by Walt Disney Productions? and who got his own series in 1937. In contrast to most other characters he was not humanized. The motive of the coin shows Mickey's faithful companion sitting on a circus podium with his ears attentively raised. The portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and the year of issue are depicted on the reverse of the coin.
