2021 Solomon Islands 1 oz Silver Pirate Queens (2.) - Ching Shih BU

Mintage: 10,000

This silver coin from the Royal Australian Mint is the second release in the "Pirate Queens" series. This coin is dedicated to the Chinese pirate Ching Shih.

Names like Blackbeard, Henry Morgan and the Barbarossa brothers should be familiar to many history buffs when they think of the most successful pirates of the past. Contrary to popular belief, the most successful pirate lord in history was not one of the aforementioned American or European men. Instead, she was an extraordinary Asian woman who is now known by the name of Ching Shih, which can be simply translated as "Ching's widow". Her story is nothing short of an exciting rags to riches tale. At the height of her power she commanded more than 800 large ships, 1000 smaller ships and more than 70,000 pirates, men and women.

Ching Shih's life is often described in literature as "A prostitute turned deadliest pirate in history". In 1801, Zheng Yi, the pirate captain of the infamous Red Flag Fleet, encountered Ching Shih in Cantonese harbor and was struck by her beauty. No sooner had he visited the floating brothel and met Ching Shih than he expressed his feelings and proposed to her.

Under the joint command of Zheng Yi and Ching Shih, the Red Flag Fleet began to grow and prosper like never before. The fleet grew from 200 ships at the time of their peak to 1800 ships within the next few months.

This Pirate Queens - Ching Shih 1 oz - RAM 2021 silver coin stands out in particular due to its high minting quality in uncirculated condition. The circulation of this special coin is also limited to only 10,000 copies worldwide.

For orders of 10 or more coins, the coins will be sent in the original roll and for quantities of 240 or more coins in the original Royal Australian Mint master box.

The design of the silver coin
The motif side of the coin shows Ching Shi's pirate ship with sails hoisted. The boat is surrounded by a feng huang. Sometimes referred to as the Chinese phoenix, the feng-huang is a symbol of summer and spiritual balance and is one of the most revered creatures in Chinese tradition, along with the dragon, the qilin and the tortoise. Its appearance is said to indicate a great event or testify to the greatness of a ruler. In addition, the inscription "CHING SHIH" and the fine weight and fineness "1oz .999 FINE SILVER" can be found in the upper area of ??the coin.

The value side of the coin shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and the inscription "ELIZABETH II", the country of issue "SOLOMON ISLANDS", the face value of "2 DOLLARS" and the year of issue "2021".
